Manufactured from Alien HT Zirconia, it provides a rigid, one-to-one evaluation of the approved full-arch design—before investing in the final material, shade, and finishing.
Available for only $229 per arch, it is an affordable additional verification step for cases where predictable fit matters most.
Why PMMA and Printed Try-Ins Can Be Misleading
PMMA and 3D-printed materials are valuable during the provisional and diagnostic stages, but they naturally have more flexibility than zirconia.
That flexibility can allow a try-in to seat even when:
- Implant interfaces do not share an ideal path of insertion
- Interface angulations create binding
- The restoration is being slightly distorted during seating
- A scan or design discrepancy is present
- The arch is not completely passive
Because PMMA can flex, a fit problem may remain hidden until the definitive zirconia restoration is delivered.
Zirconia does not flex in the same way. If the interfaces are not compatible with the insertion path, the final restoration may rock or fail to seat completely.

The Zirconia Try-In is designed to help evaluate three critical areas before ordering the final restoration:
Passive Fit
Confirm that the arch seats completely and evaluate it for rocking, binding, or other signs of an insertion-path discrepancy.
Occlusion
Check the bite and identify adjustments that should be incorporated into the definitive restoration.
Phonetics
Evaluate speech and phonetics while confirming the overall tooth position and design.
This gives the laboratory and clinician an opportunity to verify the case in a rigid material before committing to the final zirconia, shade, characterization, and finishing.

Important: This Is a Try-In, Not a Final Restoration
The Alien Full-Arch Zirconia Try-In is manufactured specifically for evaluation. It is not intended for final delivery or long-term clinical use.
To maintain an affordable price and fast turnaround, the try-in is produced using an expedited milling strategy.
As a result:
- Undercuts and fine finishing details are not addressed
- C-clamp milling is not performed
- Embrasures may have less definition and access than the final restoration
- The restoration is delivered in a sintered state
- Final glazing is not included
- Pink gingival finishing is not included
The Zirconia Try-In is intended to verify fit, occlusion, and phonetics. Its surface quality, embrasure definition, and finishing should not be considered representative of the definitive restoration.
Material and Shade Options
Every Alien Full-Arch Zirconia Try-In is manufactured from Alien HT Zirconia.
Standard shades may be ordered as desired, and white is also available for try-in purposes. Bleach shades are not available for this product.
Once the try-in is approved, the definitive restoration may be ordered in your preferred zirconia material, shade, and available finishing options.
What Happens If Adjustments Are Needed?
If adjustments are required, make them directly to the Zirconia Try-In and rescan the adjusted restoration.
A new Zirconia Try-In order is required whenever the design is modified. This allows the revised restoration to be verified again in rigid zirconia before proceeding to the final.
While this adds another verification step, it can help prevent a more expensive and time-consuming problem during final delivery.
Going from Try-In to Final Is Easy with Alien Rx V2
Once the Zirconia Try-In is satisfactory, ordering the definitive restoration is simple.
The new Alien Rx V2 includes a dedicated From Try-In section that displays your cases previously ordered with a Zirconia Try-In. Select the appropriate case to begin the final order using the approved design.
If Alien Milling designed the original Zirconia Try-In, you will not be charged another design fee when ordering the final restoration from that approved case.
